Extension Services trains teachers on dance,
theater arts

Prof. Rico M. Romero, Hablon Dawani managing director, leads the workshop participants for some body warm-up
Fifty-three teachers from the Department of Education and other private
schools in the province underwent a five-day training from CSC Extension
Services Center about dance innovation and theater arts education.
Prof Rico M. Romero, managing director of Hablon Dawani, the cultural
outreach arm of the Catanduanes State Colleges under the Extension
Services, served as the workshop resource person. He discussed the
Basic Elements of Dance, Stage Anatomy, Levels of Composition, Basic
Elements of Dance Innovation and Composition and consequently conducted
thereafter practicum for each topic.
He also engaged the participants in the application of concepts about
Dance Movement on Preservation and Transformation and Street Dance.
Moreover, a lecture on Developing Instructional Materials in Theater
Arts Using Theater Elements and Creative Movements, Notes on Action
and Schools-based Dance Drama capped the five-day workshop.
The last day of the workshop was devoted to the rehearsal and the
final presentation of the participants' output on dance innovation
and theater education.
The training, dubbed Summer Workshop on Dance Innovation and Theater
Education, was held on May 2-6, 2012 at the CSC HRD Building. It is
one of the several the skills training workshops conducted by the
CSC Extension Services this Summer 2012.
